Why A New Division III Club?
If you want to play Division III, there aren't a lot of choices.
On the north side of Cook County, theren't a lot of choices,...There's the Chicago Dragons, but they are primarily gay club. This isn't saying that the Dragons willnot accept "straight" player, they certainly will. How many "straight" players will it take before the Dragons lose their "gay" character.
There's Lake County, but they are in Gurnee,...very long drive for twice a week practices.
Division I and II clubs aren't very attractive either:
There are Griffins and Lions: thee Lions play in the Super League, which means lot of time and money travelling out of state. The Griffins play Division I, but there games aren't much closer. If yuo are seeking a division III club, then you are probably marginally a "B" side player. There's another issue, now you are playing in relatively meaningless games. Do you really want to spend the money to fly?
Then, there's Lincoln Park,... They play and practice where parking is a premium. You may still play "B" side rugby.
Northwest Woodsmen practice in Schaumburg, which isn't, if you consider traffic, much better than travelling to Gurnee.
So, in the end, if you live in the North Cook County area and you want to play "competitive" Division III level rugby, you don't have any choices. That is until now,... The North Shore Cossacks.
